Hey there!
It’s been a whirlwind week with all the 4th of July celebrations here in Josephine County. Everywhere you looked, American flags were flying high, showing our support for independence and celebrating our country’s birthday. It was truly a sight to behold!
On the 4th, we kicked off the day with a reading of the Declaration of Independence on the Courthouse steps. The event was filled with patriotic songs, poems, and music, creating a heartfelt tribute to our nation’s history. Following the ceremony, the Republican Headquarters office hosted a non-partisan lunch where we enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, desserts, and great company. It was a fantastic way to bring the community together.
Later in the day, from 4 to 10 pm, Grants Pass held its 2nd annual 4th of July celebration. I had the pleasure of joining others from the community at the Grants Pass High School dunk tank to raise money for the band program. It was a scorching day, but we had a blast getting dunked. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped support such a great cause! The event also featured food trucks, bounce houses, carnival activities, and a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. The turnout was incredible, making it another excellent community celebration.
As we gear up for another triple-digit holiday weekend, it’s important to remember why we celebrate the 4th of July. It’s our nation’s birthday and a commemoration of the formation of the United States of America. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who supports and defends our great country.
Take care, Chris Barnett
