Discover Apricity Vineyard: A Jewel in the Applegate Valley
Passion for Natural Wine Located in Southern Oregon’s picturesque Applegate Valley, Apricity Vineyard is dedicated to crafting wine from naturally grown, responsibly managed grapes. This commitment allows for hands-on farming, resulting in clean, natural, and uniquely terroir-driven wines.
Meet the Owners Laloni Cook, the heart of the tasting room, ensures guests feel welcomed and valued. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, she brings a deep connection to the region’s natural beauty and community spirit. Noah Lowry, with a background in farming and ranching, oversees vineyard operations, ensuring natural practices are upheld for strong, healthy vines and exceptional wines. Together, their complementary skills and shared passion shape the unique character and vision of Apricity Vineyard.
A Changing Season Noah and Laloni’s son has been presented with a once-in-a-lifetime athletic offer on the East Coast, prompting the owners to find a new steward for Apricity Vineyards.
The Vineyard Formerly known as Crow and Bear, Apricity Vineyard was converted from a horse farm to a vineyard in 2014. Since purchasing the vineyard in 2016, the owners have enhanced its health through ecological farming principles. Resident runner ducks and chickens roam freely, foraging for insects and fertilizing the rows.
Ecologically Farmed The vineyard thrives on plant diversity, with natural cover crops like grasses, clovers, and wildflowers protecting the soil year-round. Mechanical cultivation is used to loosen the soil, aerate, and weed, eliminating the need for chemical herbicides. Vine foliage is treated with nutrients and microbes to stimulate natural resistance against pests and fungi. Soil vitality is enhanced through cover cropping and a comprehensive amendment plan, promoting microbiology, organic matter, biodiversity, and root health.
Clean Farming Apricity Vineyard is committed to growing biologically produced grapes of the highest quality, completely chemical-free. This philosophy, termed “(micro)biology to bottle,” focuses on the microbiological health of the vineyard ecosystem.
Our Sustainable Vision When remodeling the tasting room, sustainability was prioritized. The tasting room, a repurposed horse barn, incorporates rustic elements like salvaged barn wood and a hempcrete learning wall, reflecting the diversity and evolving landscape of the Southern Oregon wine region.
Embracing Upcycling Building materials used in the remodel were repurposed, including upcycled bricks, barnwood, and hinges. Personal touches include trinkets from Laloni’s grandmother and a cinder pine rough-cut table from Noah’s father. The tasting room offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy estate wines amidst the vine rows.
Collaboration with Linda Donovan Apricity Vineyards partners with Linda Donovan and Pallet Wine Company for winemaking. Linda’s extensive expertise and passion ensure each bottle reflects the vineyard’s unique terroir. Her hands-on approach aligns perfectly with Apricity’s commitment to natural, responsibly crafted wines.
