ASHLAND, OR — Skiers and snowboarders will have even more opportunities to hit the slopes at Mt. Ashland this spring. The ski area has announced an extended season, adding two bonus weekends in April to capitalize on exceptional snowfall and strong attendance numbers. Originally set to close on April 13, Mt. Ashland will now remain open on April 19-20 and April 26-27, offering four additional days of skiing and snowboarding.
The decision follows a season of remarkable snowfall, with the mountain receiving an impressive 296 inches so far—and still counting. With 20 more days of operations left in the regular season, Mt. Ashland is on track to set attendance records. A recent storm brought in 30 inches of fresh powder in just four days, and with more than 10 feet of snow at the base, the ski area is confident that conditions will remain excellent through late April.
“This season has been nothing short of incredible, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going with two additional bonus weekends,” said Mt. Ashland General Manager Andrew Gast. “With excellent snow coverage and record-setting attendance, we want to give our community more opportunities to enjoy the spring skiing and snowboarding that Mt. Ashland is famous for. We’re looking forward to celebrating a historic season with our guests and can’t wait to share some exciting spring events on the Mountain.”
During the bonus weekends, the mountain will operate at a limited capacity, with the Comer, Windsor, and Ariel chairlifts running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at a discounted rate. The Sonnet and Lithia chairlifts, along with the First Act Learning Carpet, will see their final runs of the season on April 13. Additionally, the Ski and Ride School will conclude its Group Lesson offerings that same weekend, but Private Lessons will still be available for booking online in advance for both bonus weekends.
In addition to extra time on the slopes, Mt. Ashland is planning spring events to keep the fun going. Guests are encouraged to stay tuned for details on upcoming activities by checking the Mt. Ashland events calendar at mt.ashland.com and following Mt. Ashland Ski Area on Instagram and Facebook. The mountain has also hinted at a major announcement coming in April, urging Season Passholders and Day Lift Ticket holders to carve out time in their schedules for some spring turns.
The 2024-25 winter season has been one for the record books. The mountain opened early on December 6 and has already logged 71 days of skiing and riding. With the addition of two extra weekends, Mt. Ashland is on pace for its second-longest operational season in 30 years.
Mt. Ashland Ski Area is owned and operated by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Mt. Ashland Association under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. The organization is dedicated to providing and promoting healthy alpine recreation, making skiing and snowboarding accessible to the community.
With fresh snow, extended operations, and exciting spring events on the horizon, Mt. Ashland is ensuring that this winter season will be remembered as one of the best in decades. For those looking to take full advantage of the conditions, now is the time to make plans and soak up some springtime alpine air.
