Jackson County law enforcement responded to a series of escalating incidents at a large hemp processing property near Central Point this last Thursday, resulting in three arrests following reports of gunfire, a hit-and-run, and a vehicle pursuit.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched just before 9:00 p.m. to the 2700 block of Scenic Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired at the HempNova facility, a 45-acre property located in a rural area of the county.
Initial information from law enforcement indicates the call began as a trespassing complaint. During the course of that incident, a vehicle reportedly struck another party and fled the scene, prompting deputies to initiate a response that quickly expanded beyond the original call.
Authorities confirmed that a pursuit followed as deputies attempted to locate and stop the vehicle involved. The pursuit ended with three individuals taken into custody. Officials have not yet released the identities of those arrested or the charges they may face.
Dispatch communications confirmed that multiple callers reported gunfire at the location, which led to a heightened law enforcement response. As of the latest information available, investigators have not confirmed who fired the shots or whether the gunfire was directly connected to the individuals taken into custody. No information has been released indicating whether any injuries occurred.
The property where the incident took place has previously been the focus of federal enforcement activity. The HempNova site was the subject of a Drug Enforcement Administration operation in 2025 involving hemp and cannabis-related investigations in Southern Oregon. Law enforcement officials have not stated whether Thursday night’s events are connected to that prior case.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released a detailed timeline outlining the sequence of events beyond confirming the initial call, the reported hit-and-run, and the subsequent arrests. Information regarding evidence collected at the scene, including whether any weapons were recovered, has not been made public.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the incident, including the nature of the reported trespass and the events that resulted in the vehicle leaving the scene. Authorities have also not indicated whether additional individuals may be involved.
No further details have been released as of Friday, and the case remains under active investigation. Additional information, including formal charges and identification of the suspects, is expected to be released by law enforcement as the investigation progresses.
