The Zonta Club of Grants Pass, a local service organization dedicated to supporting women and girls, is inviting the community to participate in an upcoming Goodwill Trailer Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, October 4. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Logan Design parking lot, located at 707 SE 7th Street at the corner of 7th and L Streets in Grants Pass.
This fundraiser offers residents an opportunity to clean out their closets, garages, and bookshelves while supporting an organization that has been serving the Rogue Valley for decades. Donated items will go directly to Goodwill, which in turn will provide funds to the Zonta Club of Grants Pass based on the total weight of donations received. Heavy items, such as books, are especially encouraged because they help increase the per-pound contributions.
Community members are welcome to donate a wide range of items including clothing, shoes, books, DVDs, CDs, small household appliances, sporting goods, bedding and linens, accessories, collectibles, antiques, and working flat-screen televisions. However, there are restrictions on certain types of items. The club cannot accept large furniture, mattresses, box springs, pianos, organs, firearms, ammunition, paint, household chemicals, oil heaters, large appliances such as washers and refrigerators, or gas-powered equipment. Additional restrictions apply to workout machines, baby gear like strollers and car seats, medical equipment, building materials, e-waste, and fire extinguishers. Anyone with questions about what can or cannot be donated is encouraged to contact event coordinator Elena Borngasser at (541) 295-0642.
Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a worldwide, nonpartisan and nonsectarian service organization with the mission of building a better world for women and girls. The name “Zonta” originates from the Lakota language of the Native American Sioux, symbolizing honesty, trust, and the spirit of working together. Zonta envisions a future where women’s rights are recognized as human rights, where women have equal access to resources and representation in leadership roles, and where no woman lives in fear of violence. Today, Zonta operates in 32 districts around the world, with local clubs carrying out service projects tailored to their communities while remaining part of the larger global effort.
The Zonta Club of Grants Pass was chartered in 1947 and has remained active in Southern Oregon ever since. Over the years, it has supported education, leadership development, and advocacy for women’s rights, while also providing financial assistance for local programs and scholarships. Its members are a diverse mix of community leaders, professionals, retirees, parents, and volunteers united by a common goal of making a difference.
By participating in the Goodwill Trailer Fundraiser, residents not only contribute to sustainability by giving unused items a second life but also help fund initiatives that directly support women and girls in Josephine County. Every pound of donations translates into resources that Zonta can reinvest locally. The October 4 event provides a simple way for the community to rally behind an organization with a long-standing history of service. For those who may be unable to attend on the day of the event, early donation arrangements can be made by contacting Borngasser directly.
