Grants Pass residents will have another opportunity to meet directly with their local elected officials next week, as the city’s monthly Council Community Connection returns on Friday, August 8, 2025. The event will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Rogue Roasters, located at 610 SW 6th Street in the heart of downtown Grants Pass.
This month’s session will feature City Councilors Seth Benham and Victoria Marshall, both of whom will be available to engage in one-on-one conversations with community members in a casual and accessible setting. The Council Community Connection series, launched as a means to foster greater civic dialogue and transparency, offers residents a chance to speak directly with councilors outside of formal city meetings and structured agendas.
The informal gathering invites residents to bring their questions, concerns, ideas, or simply their curiosity. Whether it’s about road conditions, housing issues, public safety, downtown development, or recent council decisions, Benham and Marshall will be on hand to listen and respond. The relaxed coffee shop setting is designed to put residents at ease, encouraging open communication and deeper community ties.
Events like this have become increasingly popular as residents seek more direct access to their elected officials, especially in times of economic, environmental, and social challenges. Rogue Roasters, a longtime local business known for its artisan coffee and welcoming atmosphere, has hosted multiple city events in the past and continues to serve as a trusted hub for civic engagement.
City officials say that these types of public forums allow council members to hear about real-time issues from those most affected by city policy—everyday residents. In turn, residents gain insight into the decision-making processes behind city operations, creating a two-way exchange that strengthens local democracy.
For Councilors Benham and Marshall, the event represents more than just a morning chat—it’s part of a larger effort to restore public trust and maintain accountability. With city government often criticized for feeling distant or opaque, the Council Community Connection is a grassroots-style response to bridge that gap.
While attendees are encouraged to come with prepared questions or topics, the environment is designed to be casual, and there is no formal agenda. Even those without specific concerns are welcome to join, enjoy a beverage, and listen in on what promises to be a lively and informative hour of civic conversation.
The City of Grants Pass continues to encourage public participation in all aspects of local government. Those unable to attend the August 8 session can look forward to future monthly events, each featuring different councilors and new opportunities to engage.
