GRANTS PASS, OR. — The Pregnancy Care Center of Grants Pass is preparing to host its annual fundraising gala, “Storytellers,” this October, bringing a remarkable personal story to the forefront of its largest event of the year.
This year’s featured speaker is Josiah Presley, a man whose life began under extraordinary circumstances. Presley was born in South Korea after his biological mother attempted to end her pregnancy just two months in. The procedure failed, and several months later she discovered that her pregnancy was still viable. Choosing to place the child for adoption, she ultimately saw him adopted by a family in the United States.
Although Presley was born with a deformed left arm—believed to be the result of the failed abortion—he grew up healthy in a Christian household with 11 siblings, most of whom were also adopted. Now 30, Presley has been speaking publicly about his life since 2013, sharing his personal account alongside stories from his adopted siblings. His testimony has reached audiences nationwide and has been featured in multiple national media outlets.
According to event organizers, Presley’s appearance at the gala is meant to inspire attendees with a message of perseverance, faith, and the value of life. “Josiah’s story is powerful not only because of its beginning, but because of what he has done with his life since,” said a spokesperson for the Pregnancy Care Center.
The gala will take place over two evenings—Thursday, October 2, and Friday, October 3—from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at a Grants Pass venue. Both nights will feature the same program, allowing attendees to choose the date most convenient for them. For those unable to attend in person, the program will be available via livestream on Saturday, October 4, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Guests can expect a full evening program, including dinner and Presley’s keynote presentation. Reservations are required and can be made online at www.gppregnancy.com/storytellers or by calling (541) 479-6264.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors—including The Human Bean and other local businesses—the event is free to attend. All expenses have been covered in advance, ensuring that 100% of donations made during the gala go directly to Pregnancy Care Center services for local families. Organizers note that while attendance is free, a financial appeal will be made during the program.
The Pregnancy Care Center of Grants Pass is a community-supported nonprofit offering pregnancy testing, counseling, educational programs, and resources for expectant parents. The annual gala serves as its only major fundraising event of the year, with table sponsorships playing a key role in meeting its operating needs.
“Our work depends on the support of the community,” the spokesperson added. “This event allows us to continue providing resources and compassionate care to those who need it most.”
Seats are expected to fill quickly, and early reservations are encouraged.
