Starbucks will close its store at 120 NE Hillcrest Drive in Grants Pass this weekend, less than two years after it opened. The closure is part of a broader reduction of locations in Southern Oregon that also includes two stores in Medford and one in Ashland.
The Hillcrest store, located near NE 7th Street, was intended to serve commuters and drive-through customers in a busy part of town. Its closure will shift local traffic to other Starbucks locations in Grants Pass.
The Medford closures affect stores on West Main Street and Delta Waters Road, while Ashland’s Walker Avenue café will also shut down. Together, the closures mark a noticeable contraction of Starbucks’ presence in the Rogue Valley.
Company officials have said the decisions are tied to performance and strategy, with an emphasis on strengthening more profitable locations. Starbucks has been closing some cafés nationwide while opening others, prioritizing sites that generate consistent volume and better fit its long-term operating model.
Employees at the affected locations have been notified, and in some cases transfer opportunities may be available. Customers have been directed to use the Starbucks online store locator to confirm which stores remain open.
The Hillcrest closure ends a short-lived presence for the company at that site and reduces options for coffee along a heavily traveled Grants Pass corridor. Remaining local Starbucks locations are expected to absorb the extra business once the Hillcrest store closes.
