Good morning Mr. Riccio,
I hope you had the opportunity to reflect on my comments during yesterday’s commissioner meeting. As I indicated at the time, I anticipated the outcome. Opting our property out was only an initial step.
My broader objective is to see the taxing district placed back on the ballot, allowing the citizens and taxpayers to decide whether they wish to continue funding the current library system. I believe strongly that this decision should rest with the community.
There are also growing concerns among residents about priorities—particularly the prospect of constructing a multi-million dollar library while downtown Grants Pass continues to struggle. I expect these concerns will become more prominent as awareness increases.
Additionally, some community members have raised questions about the types of events and groups the library has hosted or supported. These issues may influence public opinion as voters evaluate the future of the library district.
Ultimately, I am confident that the community will make its voice heard through the ballot process.
Respectfully,
Mike P
