On my latest lunch adventure around Grants Pass, I stopped by Babes Bakery, located at 1701 NE 6th Street. Many locals already know Babes for their delicious baked goods and fresh bread, but they also serve up some really solid sandwiches.
During this visit, I decided to try one of their sandwiches called “The Porker.” It’s a straightforward, classic sandwich that proves you don’t always need fancy ingredients to make something great.
The Porker is served on a fresh sourdough roll and comes with ham, bacon, tomato, and cheese. I added a little mayo and mustard to bring everything together.
What stood out to me right away was the bread. Babes is known for their baked goods, and the sourdough roll was exactly what you would hope for—fresh, soft on the inside, and sturdy enough to hold everything together. The combination of ham and bacon gave the sandwich a nice, savory flavor, while the tomato added a bit of freshness.
Sometimes the best sandwiches are the simple ones. No complicated toppings or over-the-top combinations—just quality ingredients that work well together. That’s exactly what Babes delivered here.
If you’re looking for a good, classic sandwich for lunch in Grants Pass, Babes Bakery is definitely worth a stop. Between their fresh bread, baked goods, and solid sandwich options, it’s easy to see why so many locals keep coming back.
