One of my favorite parts of what I do is discovering those hidden gems that people keep telling me about. This week, I finally made it back to Cave Junction to visit The Replay. After hearing recommendation after recommendation, I had to find out what all the excitement was about.
As soon as I arrived, I asked the owner what I should order. Without hesitation, he pointed me toward the Wyatt Chirp, a crispy chicken sandwich piled high with KC BBQ sauce, onion straws, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Gouda cheese, all served on a brioche bun.
From the very first bite, I understood why so many people had sent me there. The chicken was perfectly crispy, while the barbecue sauce delivered plenty of flavor without overwhelming the sandwich. The combination of bacon, Gouda cheese, and onion straws created an excellent balance of texture and taste, making each bite better than the last.
I have eaten a lot of chicken sandwiches throughout Southern Oregon, and I am not afraid to say that this one has earned a place at the top of my list. It was simply that good.
What continues to impress me about Cave Junction is its growing food scene. Every time I visit, I discover another locally owned business serving quality food and taking pride in what they do. The Replay is another great example of why supporting local businesses matters.
If you are passing through Cave Junction or looking for an excuse to take a short road trip, put The Replay on your list. Based on my experience, the Wyatt Chirp is a must-try menu item and one that lives up to its reputation.
As always, support local, explore the places that make our communities unique, and show these small businesses the appreciation they deserve.
