Southern Oregon’s growing food truck scene will welcome a new gathering place this weekend as Rally at Ethos celebrates its grand opening with a full day of food, live music and family activities along South Pacific Highway.
Rally at Ethos, located at 4414 S. Pacific Highway, will hold its official grand opening Saturday, August 29, from noon to 10 p.m. Rather than simply opening the food trucks for business, organizers are turning the occasion into a community celebration designed to introduce the new food pod while giving families, friends and local residents a reason to settle in and spend the day.
Live music will be a major part of Saturday’s festivities, with a lineup combining a visiting performer with Southern Oregon talent. Bryan Hopkins will make the trip from Las Vegas to perform during the event, joining local musicians The Paper Flares, Nathan Stone and Dennis Konency. Performances are scheduled throughout the celebration as Rally at Ethos introduces the entertainment component organizers hope will become part of the location’s identity.
The grand opening will also include activities for younger visitors and families, including bounce houses and face painting. Flash tattoos will be available during the event, while the food trucks will serve customers throughout the afternoon and evening. Food, drinks and live entertainment will anchor the 10-hour celebration.
Organizers describe Rally at Ethos as more than a collection of food trucks, with the property being developed as a place where people can eat while also spending time together in a relaxed community setting.
“Rally at Ethos is quickly becoming more than just a food pod — it’s a place for the community to come together, discover new food, listen to great music and make some memories,” organizers said in announcing the grand opening.
Food truck pods have increasingly created a different kind of dining experience by bringing multiple food choices into one shared setting, allowing groups and families to choose from different vendors without having to separate for a meal. Rally at Ethos is incorporating that concept with live entertainment and community activities, giving visitors the option of making an afternoon or evening out of what might otherwise be a quick stop for food.
Saturday’s celebration is intended to provide the public with its first full introduction to that concept. With the event running from noon until 10 p.m., visitors can stop by throughout the day rather than having to arrive during a narrow grand-opening window. The combination of music, children’s activities and food is also intended to make the event accessible to a broad range of visitors.
The opening adds another locally focused destination along the South Pacific Highway corridor and provides participating food vendors with a centralized location where customers can sample different offerings in a single visit. For Rally at Ethos, the grand opening will serve as both an introduction to the food pod and an opportunity to establish the property as a gathering place for future community entertainment and events.
The Rally at Ethos grand opening will take place Saturday, August 29, from noon to 10 p.m. at 4414 S. Pacific Highway. Admission details were not specified in the announcement. Visitors are encouraged by organizers to bring friends and family, arrive hungry and stay for the music.
