Residents of Grants Pass will have another opportunity to hear directly from elected city leaders and participate in a public discussion about local issues when two members of the Grants Pass City Council appear on KAJO Radio’s monthly community affairs program on Tuesday, June 2.
Councilors Joel King and Kathleen Krohn are scheduled to join the live broadcast beginning at 9:30 a.m. on KAJO 99.7 FM, where they will discuss current topics affecting the city and respond to questions from listeners. The hour-long program is part of an ongoing series that brings members of the City Council into direct conversation with the public through one of the region’s longest-running local radio forums.
The monthly program has become a familiar platform for community engagement, providing residents with an opportunity to hear updates on city government activities, upcoming projects, policy discussions, and issues currently being considered by the council. Listeners are encouraged to call into the show during the broadcast to ask questions, share concerns, and offer comments on matters affecting Grants Pass and the surrounding area.
As communities continue to navigate challenges ranging from infrastructure needs and public safety concerns to economic development and growth management, programs such as the KAJO council forum offer residents a chance to hear directly from decision-makers outside the formal setting of City Council meetings.
The appearance by King and Krohn comes as city leaders continue to address a variety of issues facing Grants Pass. While specific discussion topics for the June broadcast have not been announced, previous council forums have covered subjects including city finances, transportation projects, parks and recreation, public works initiatives, housing concerns, and other matters of public interest.
Local radio has historically played an important role in civic engagement throughout Southern Oregon, providing an accessible venue where residents can stay informed about local government and participate in conversations that shape community priorities. The monthly council broadcast continues that tradition by creating a direct line of communication between elected officials and the public.
Unlike formal council meetings, which follow established procedures and agendas, the radio format allows for a more conversational exchange and often gives residents an opportunity to raise issues that may not otherwise receive public attention. Listener participation frequently helps identify concerns, questions, and topics that city leaders may consider in future discussions or policy decisions.
The June 2 broadcast will air from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on KAJO 99.7 FM. Residents who wish to follow the discussion can tune in live and participate through the station’s call-in segment during the program.
As Grants Pass continues to grow and evolve, opportunities for direct dialogue between local government and the community remain an important part of maintaining transparency, accountability, and public involvement in the decision-making process. The upcoming KAJO forum offers residents another chance to stay informed and make their voices heard on issues affecting the future of the city.
