The City of Grants Pass is now accepting applications to fill three upcoming vacancies on its Tourism Advisory Committee, as several member terms approach expiration. These appointments offer an opportunity for local residents and industry professionals to play a direct role in shaping how Grants Pass is marketed, promoted, and positioned as a destination for both visitors and the community at large.
Each open position carries a three-year term and supports the committee’s broader mission of strengthening the city’s tourism economy. The Tourism Advisory Committee works to encourage engagement in community activities while enhancing the positive image of Grants Pass through thoughtful marketing strategies, promotional efforts, and destination management initiatives. Tourism remains a significant contributor to the local economy, supporting businesses, events, and seasonal employment across multiple sectors.
The committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City’s contracted tourism services provider. Members review ongoing marketing and promotional activities, assess the effectiveness of tourism initiatives, and provide findings and recommendations to the City Council when appropriate. Through this process, the committee helps ensure that public tourism funds are used responsibly and aligned with community values and long-term economic goals.
Special qualifications apply to the current openings to ensure balanced representation from key sectors connected to tourism. One position is designated for a representative of lodging properties within the city limits, reflecting the central role accommodations play in attracting and serving visitors. The remaining two positions are intended for individuals representing river guides, area attractions, real estate professionals, restaurants, media, marketing professionals, or citizens-at-large with a strong interest in tourism and community development. This diverse mix is designed to bring a broad range of perspectives and expertise to the committee’s work.
Applications are available in person at the City Administration Office located at 101 N.W. A Street in Grants Pass, as well as online through the City’s application portal. Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. Timely submission is essential, as late applications will not be considered in the review process.
The Tourism Advisory Committee is scheduled to review applications during its meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Following that review, final appointments will be made by the City Council at its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Appointed members will begin their terms shortly thereafter, contributing to ongoing efforts to promote Grants Pass as a welcoming and vibrant destination.
City officials encourage interested individuals who are passionate about Grants Pass and its future to consider applying. Participation on the Tourism Advisory Committee provides a meaningful way to influence local economic development, support community identity, and help guide how the city is experienced by residents and visitors alike.
