Residents of Grants Pass will have another opportunity this month to speak directly with their city leaders in an informal setting. The Council Community Connection, a regular outreach event hosted by the City of Grants Pass, is scheduled for Friday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The gathering will take place at Taste & See, located at 239 SE G Street in downtown Grants Pass.
Mayor Clint Scherf and Councilor Joel King will be on hand to meet with community members, answer questions, and discuss local concerns. The event is designed as a casual conversation rather than a formal meeting, providing space for residents to engage with elected officials outside of City Hall. By meeting in a local business rather than a government office, the city hopes to encourage a more relaxed environment that fosters open communication.
The Council Community Connection has become a consistent feature in Grants Pass, held monthly at various businesses around town. The rotating venues reflect the city’s effort to support local establishments while making these sessions more accessible to different parts of the community. Each event typically features one or two city leaders, offering citizens the chance to share ideas, raise issues, or simply listen to updates on city priorities.
City officials have noted that these conversations often provide valuable input on topics ranging from neighborhood safety and infrastructure to parks, business development, and housing. For many residents, the sessions offer a way to have their concerns heard directly without navigating the formal processes of council meetings or public hearings.
This month’s location at Taste & See, a café on G Street, places the meeting in the heart of downtown. The time frame of 10 to 11 a.m. is intended to make attendance possible for both early risers and those with mid-morning availability. Attendees are encouraged to stop by at any point during the hour, whether for a full conversation or just a brief check-in.
While not a decision-making body, the Council Community Connection continues to serve as a forum for dialogue, helping bridge the gap between local government and residents. For Grants Pass, it remains an avenue to strengthen civic participation and ensure that leadership remains accessible to the people it serves.
