Motorists traveling through downtown Grants Pass should prepare for several temporary street closures beginning Thursday, July 23, and continuing through Saturday, July 25, as the annual Cruise the Rogue festivities take place throughout the city center.
The first closure begins at noon on Thursday, July 23, when 5th Street between G Street and H Street will close for a Cruise the Rogue VIP event. The roadway will remain closed until 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24.
Additional traffic impacts are scheduled for Friday as G Street between 4th Street and 6th Street will be closed from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. to accommodate the Cruise the Rogue car show. Drivers should expect increased pedestrian activity throughout the downtown area during the event.
The largest traffic impacts will occur on Saturday, July 25, for the signature Cruise the Rogue parade and cruise. From 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., both 6th Street and 7th Street will be closed between A Street and M Street. To support the event and maintain public safety, additional streets will also be closed, creating a one-block perimeter surrounding the cruise route. Those closures include B Street through L Street between 5th Street and 8th Street.
City officials advise motorists to expect delays, use alternate routes whenever possible, and allow additional travel time if driving near the downtown district during the scheduled events. Clearly marked detours will be in place throughout each closure period to help direct traffic around the affected areas.
Because of the event layout and safety requirements, emergency vehicles will not be permitted to travel through the closed sections while the streets are secured for Cruise the Rogue activities.
Residents, visitors, and those planning to attend the festivities are encouraged to review traffic impacts before traveling downtown and to plan accordingly throughout the three-day event.
Additional event information, schedules, and updates are available through the official Cruise the Rogue website at Cruise the Rogue.
