Grants Pass residents will have an opportunity Tuesday morning to hear directly from two members of the City Council as local government issues move from City Hall to the community airwaves.
Councilors Seth Benham and Kathleen Krohn are scheduled to appear on KAJO 99.7 FM at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, for a live discussion centered on issues facing Grants Pass and the people who live and work within the city.
The radio appearance will provide residents with another avenue for following city government outside regularly scheduled council meetings, workshops and formal public hearings. The program will also allow listeners to participate by telephone, giving residents an opportunity to submit comments and questions during the broadcast.
The City of Grants Pass announced the scheduled appearance Friday, August 28, as part of its continuing public-information outreach. No specific agenda or individual discussion topics were identified in the city’s announcement, leaving the conversation open to the municipal issues currently confronting the community and questions raised by participating listeners.
Benham and Krohn serve on the Grants Pass City Council, where councilors are responsible for considering municipal policy, city finances, public services, development matters and other decisions affecting daily operations throughout Grants Pass. Council meetings provide the formal setting for much of that work, while community forums and local media appearances provide additional opportunities for councilors to address municipal matters in a less formal setting.
Tuesday’s broadcast comes as residents continue following decisions involving city services, public safety, housing, development, infrastructure and the financial demands of operating a growing Southern Oregon community. While those subjects remain prominent in local government, the city has not indicated which specific matters Benham and Krohn intend to address during the program.
The call-in format gives the broadcast a public-participation component beyond the councilors’ scheduled discussion.
