The City of Grants Pass has opened the application process for four vacancies on its Budget Committee, inviting qualified residents to take part in one of the city’s most consequential public decision-making bodies. The committee plays a central role in reviewing the city’s financial priorities and shaping the annual budget that ultimately moves forward for City Council consideration and adoption.
The Budget Committee is structured to reflect a balance between elected leadership and community participation. Half of its members are sitting elected officials, while the remaining positions are filled by residents from the community at large. This structure is designed to incorporate a broad range of perspectives, experiences, and viewpoints, ensuring that the city’s fiscal planning process remains both representative and transparent.
Members of the Budget Committee are responsible for receiving and examining the city’s Recommended Budget, which outlines anticipated revenues, expenditures, and proposed allocations for the upcoming fiscal year. Through public meetings and deliberations, the committee evaluates how resources are distributed across city departments and services, and it ultimately approves a proposed budget for consideration by the City Council. The committee’s work directly influences funding decisions that affect infrastructure, public safety, parks, and essential municipal operations.
Eligibility for appointment is limited to individuals who are residents and registered electors within the City of Grants Pass. These requirements ensure that committee members have a direct stake in the city’s financial health and are accountable to the community they represent. While specific professional backgrounds are not mandated, applicants are expected to bring a willingness to review detailed financial information and participate constructively in discussions about fiscal policy and community needs.
Applications may be obtained in person at the City Administration Office located at 101 N.W. A Street, or completed online through the city’s official application portal. Completed applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Following the application deadline, candidates will be interviewed by the City Council during a scheduled meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026. Final appointments to the Budget Committee are expected to be made at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Individuals selected for service will join the committee in advance of the upcoming budget review cycle, contributing to the financial planning process that guides Grants Pass through the next fiscal year.
