Grants Pass residents will have an opportunity to meet directly with members of the City Council this week when the September Council Community Connection brings local government discussions out of City Hall and into a downtown gathering place.
The monthly community event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Taste & See, 239 SE G St. in downtown Grants Pass. The informal gathering is open to residents interested in discussing city issues, asking questions or hearing directly from council members about matters affecting the community.
Council Community Connection events are designed to provide a less formal setting for conversations between residents and members of the Grants Pass City Council. Rather than following the structured format of a regular council meeting, the gathering allows community members to speak with council representatives in a casual setting and discuss subjects of local interest.
Residents may stop in during the hour to share concerns, raise questions or discuss issues they believe deserve the council’s attention. Those who prefer to listen are also welcome to attend, providing an opportunity to hear conversations involving city government and the perspectives of other Grants Pass residents.
The September gathering comes as the city continues its regular schedule of council meetings, committee work and municipal operations affecting neighborhoods, businesses and residents throughout Grants Pass. Community Connection provides another avenue for residents to communicate with elected representatives outside the council chambers and the formal public-comment process.
The downtown location also places the event within walking distance of businesses, offices and other destinations throughout the city center. Taste & See will serve as the meeting location, with attendees able to purchase a beverage while participating in or listening to the discussion.
No formal presentation or scheduled public hearing is associated with the event. Instead, the hour is centered on direct community conversation, giving residents an opportunity to bring forward subjects that may not otherwise fit within the structure of a regular City Council agenda.
The Council Community Connection will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Taste & See, 239 SE G St. in Grants Pass. Residents may attend for the entire gathering or stop by during the scheduled hour to participate in the community discussion.
