In a time when political divisions often seem to be growing, the Josephine County Republican Women (JoCRW) stands as an example of unity, community engagement, and empowerment. The club fosters understanding and compassion in an increasingly polarized world, providing a space where women can connect, grow, and work together toward a brighter future for their community.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a member of JoCRW is the genuine sense of belonging it creates. Members not only engage in politics but also form strong personal relationships that go far beyond just shared political views. This club offers a unique opportunity to meet inspiring women who, together, share a commitment to making a difference in Josephine County.
While some have described the organization as a “social club,” this label fails to capture the full scope of the club’s mission and accomplishments. Yes, we enjoy ourselves, but that enjoyment serves a greater purpose: working on important activities and projects that impact the community. The friendships we build and the mutual support we offer one another enhance every endeavor we undertake, making our work more meaningful and impactful.
Though JoCRW works alongside the County Republican Party, it is essential to note that we are entirely separate entities with distinct missions. Our organization has its own Bylaws, and while we share the goal of electing Republican candidates, we focus on supporting all Republican candidates—no matter their position or affiliation within the party. This approach fosters an inclusive environment where every voice matters, and every member is encouraged to participate.
In contrast to the Central Committee, which is primarily concerned with endorsing candidates, the Josephine County Republican Women are dedicated to promoting the values of community-minded conservative women. Our mission extends beyond political campaigns; we emphasize educating the public, promoting moral integrity among youth, and supporting conservative principles while also advancing the teaching of the U.S. Constitution in schools.
Some of our proudest initiatives include:
U.S. Constitution Essay Contest
We sponsored an essay contest for local high school senior women, offering scholarships totaling $12,000 to three deserving students in the Class of 2024. This contest not only provided financial assistance to young women but also encouraged them to engage critically with the principles that define our nation.
Leadership Education
Our club recognizes the importance of leadership development. We work to raise funds and resources that enable women to attend Leadership Conventions sponsored by the Oregon Federation of Republican Women (OFRW) and the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). These conventions equip women with the knowledge and skills they need to become effective leaders in their communities.
Community Contributions
JoCRW is committed to giving back to the community in meaningful ways. One of our most significant contributions has been supporting the building of the Memorial Wall for Vietnam Veterans in Medford. This project honors the sacrifices made by local veterans and ensures that their service is remembered for generations to come.
Inviting Inspiring Leaders
We believe in learning from those who have walked the path of leadership before us. JoCRW hosts local, state, and national elected Republican leaders to engage with our members. These discussions offer valuable insights into how we can work together to encourage Republican engagement and strengthen our collective impact.
Community Knowledge
Our monthly meetings are an essential part of our outreach, designed to educate our members about local community programs and resources. We foster strong relationships with the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, working collaboratively to enhance the quality of life in Josephine County.
Teaching the Constitution
Another important initiative is our commitment to educating the next generation about the U.S. Constitution. JoCRW raises funds to provide pocket-sized copies of the Constitution to local middle and high schools, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the document that forms the foundation of our government.
We invite any woman interested in learning more about our work and becoming part of our community to attend one of our meetings. We meet every third Tuesday of the month at the Wild River Pub from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Our meetings are a welcoming space where members can feel valued, heard, and connected to others who share their goals and concerns.
At JoCRW, we are more than just a political group—we are a community dedicated to making a difference. By joining us, you’ll be part of an organization that is passionate about shaping a brighter future for Josephine County. Come rediscover the clarity of why you believe in being a Republican, and together, let’s make a lasting impact on our community.
