Josephine County residents will have an opportunity to donate blood Monday, Sept. 28, when Josephine County Public Health and the American Red Cross host a community blood drive at the Anne Basker Auditorium in Grants Pass.
The auditorium will be converted into a blood donation center for the event, giving local residents a convenient location to contribute to the regional blood supply and help patients who require transfusions.
The drive comes as the American Red Cross continues collecting blood for hospitals and medical facilities that depend on volunteer donors. Blood collected through community drives is used to support patients receiving emergency and ongoing medical care.
Residents who are eligible to give blood are encouraged to make an appointment and participate. Donors will go through the standard Red Cross registration and eligibility process before donating.
Josephine County Public Health is working with the Red Cross to bring the collection event directly into the community, providing another local opportunity for residents who regularly donate as well as those considering giving blood for the first time.
Those who participate will receive complimentary snacks following their donation and a $15 gift card.
The blood drive will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at the Anne Basker Auditorium in Grants Pass. Residents interested in participating are encouraged to sign up in advance to secure a donation time.
For a community event requiring little more than some time and a willingness to donate, the Sept. 28 drive provides Josephine County residents with a direct opportunity to help keep blood available for patients when it is needed.
