Kairos Northwest is expanding its commitment to youth mental health care in Southern Oregon with the opening of its newest facility, “Sonata,” a Residential Treatment Home designed to provide 24-hour trauma-informed support to young adults navigating serious mental health challenges. Located in Medford, the new treatment home represents a significant milestone in the region’s ongoing efforts to improve access to quality mental health care for vulnerable populations.
Set to officially open its doors on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Sonata will offer a safe, structured, and therapeutic living environment where young people can stabilize, develop essential life skills, and begin a path toward recovery and independence. The home was designed and constructed by the Ausland Group, a local firm that managed architecture, structural and civil engineering, and general construction, all with a focus on creating a warm and dignified living space for residents.
According to Kairos Northwest’s Executive Director, Jeremy Harle, the new facility is not just a physical shelter—it is a meaningful space for transformation. The organization believes that creating a sense of stability and support is essential for youth facing severe mental health crises, and Sonata has been built specifically to meet those needs.
The opening celebration will be held in partnership with the Medford and Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. The event will run from noon to 3:00 p.m., with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the new home, learn more about Kairos’ programs, and enjoy refreshments during the open house. The organization will also preview its upcoming Tiny Home Pilot Project, an initiative aimed at offering transitional housing options to further support youth in their mental health journeys.
In a hands-on community gesture, Kairos will also host a painted rock affirmation activity during the celebration. Guests will be invited to paint small stones with encouraging messages, which will be placed around the property to inspire and uplift future residents.
Kairos has long served as a leader in Southern Oregon’s mental health landscape, providing therapeutic programs, school-based services, and family support across the region. The addition of Sonata signals a deeper investment in long-term care options for young adults and a response to the growing need for residential mental health services throughout Jackson and Josephine Counties.
