A Medford man remains in custody following his arrest in connection with the robbery of a KeyBank branch in Medford, as the case moves into the early stages of the criminal court process.
The Medford Police Department has identified the suspect as 44-year-old Anthony James Blank, who was arrested after investigators developed probable cause connecting him to the robbery reported on July 30 at the KeyBank branch near the intersection of Barnett Road and Black Oak Drive.
Officers responded to the bank shortly after the robbery was reported and secured the scene while detectives began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. Authorities reported that no employees, customers or responding officers were injured during the incident.
During the initial investigation, police advised the public that the suspect had reportedly fled the area on an electric scooter. Investigators also released a description of the suspect’s clothing and appearance while asking the public for assistance in locating him.
Detectives later identified Blank as the suspect and obtained a search warrant during the investigation. Although he was not located during the initial warrant service, investigators continued following leads until he was taken into custody without incident. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on a charge of Robbery in the Second Degree, where he remains in custody.
Investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the robbery, including whether a weapon was displayed, the amount of money allegedly taken, or whether any of the reported proceeds have been recovered. Authorities have also not announced whether additional criminal charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
The Medford Police Department has indicated that detectives are continuing to process evidence gathered during the investigation. Surveillance video, witness statements and other investigative materials remain under review as the case is prepared for prosecution.
Publicly available Jackson County court records show no significant developments beyond the suspect’s custody status. Formal court proceedings are expected to begin as the case advances through Jackson County Circuit Court. As of Sunday, no plea had been publicly entered, no trial date had been scheduled and no additional court orders had been released.
Authorities have not announced the involvement of any additional suspects, and investigators have stated there is no continuing threat to the public related to the robbery.
Because the robbery involved a federally insured financial institution, the case could also be reviewed by federal authorities. However, no federal charges have been announced, and the case is currently proceeding through the state criminal justice system.
The investigation remains active as detectives complete their review of the evidence and prosecutors evaluate the case for future court proceedings. Additional information is expected to become available as filings are made in Jackson County Circuit Court and the judicial process moves forward.
