Families throughout Grants Pass will have three opportunities to enjoy free outdoor movies this August as the City of Grants Pass launches its annual Movies in the Park series, bringing evening entertainment to neighborhood parks across the community.
The popular summer program is designed to encourage residents of all ages to gather outdoors, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy feature films in some of the city’s public parks. Each event is free to attend and offers a relaxed setting where moviegoers can bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic items while enjoying a night under the summer sky.
This year’s schedule begins on Friday, August 14, at Riverside Park with a showing of Goat. The series continues on Friday, August 21, at Reinhart Volunteer Park with Transformers One. The final movie night is scheduled for Friday, August 28, at Redwood Park, where audiences can enjoy The LEGO Batman Movie.
By rotating the event among several city parks, the program provides families in different areas of Grants Pass with convenient opportunities to participate while also showcasing some of the community’s public gathering spaces. The parks offer an inviting atmosphere for children, parents, grandparents, and neighbors to come together and enjoy an evening of outdoor recreation before the start of the new school year.
Outdoor movie nights have become a seasonal tradition in many communities, providing residents with a low cost entertainment option while encouraging greater use of local parks. In Grants Pass, the series offers an opportunity for families to spend time together in a community setting while enjoying popular films suitable for a wide range of ages.
Community events such as Movies in the Park also support the city’s ongoing efforts to promote healthy outdoor activities and strengthen neighborhood connections. Residents are encouraged to arrive early to select a comfortable viewing location, visit with friends and neighbors, and enjoy the park before the movie begins.
The Movies in the Park series is sponsored by Rogue Credit Union, whose support helps make the free community events possible for local residents throughout August.
With three different locations and a lineup of family friendly films, the series offers multiple opportunities for residents to take advantage of the final weeks of summer before seasonal routines return. Whether attending one movie or all three, families can enjoy an evening of entertainment in some of Grants Pass’ most popular parks while sharing an experience that brings the community together.
The City of Grants Pass encourages residents to mark their calendars for August 14 at Riverside Park, August 21 at Reinhart Volunteer Park, and August 28 at Redwood Park as Movies in the Park returns for another season of free outdoor family entertainment.
