The City of Grants Pass is officially closing two of its most popular summer attractions today, marking the end of the season for local water play. The spray park at Riverside Park and the splash pad at Morrison Centennial Park will no longer be operating as of Monday, September 8, 2025.
Throughout the summer months, these water features have served as lively gathering places for families and children. The spray park at Riverside Park, set against the backdrop of the Rogue River, provided a cool retreat from the heat, while the splash pad at Morrison Centennial Park offered a safe and accessible space for younger children to enjoy outdoor play. Both facilities have been staples of summer recreation in the community, drawing steady crowds on warm days.
The closures come as part of the city’s regular seasonal schedule. With cooler weather on the horizon, the water systems must be shut down to allow for proper maintenance and to protect pipes and equipment during the colder months. The seasonal transition ensures that the infrastructure remains in good condition and will be ready for reliable use when summer returns next year.
Although the water features are closed, the parks themselves remain open to the public year-round. Riverside Park and Morrison Centennial Park continue to offer playgrounds, walking areas, picnic spots, and open spaces for gatherings. Both parks also play host to community events throughout the year, ensuring they remain vibrant destinations even after the splash pad and spray park are turned off for the season.
Today marks the final day of water play for the year, and families who enjoyed the features this summer will now look ahead to fall activities across the city’s park system. The closures signal the natural shift from summer recreation toward cooler weather pastimes, reflecting the steady rhythm of seasonal life in Grants Pass.
