Despite a winter season marked by limited snowfall and paused ski operations, Mt. Ashland Ski Area is moving forward with one of its most anticipated traditions, inviting the public to gather once again for its annual Bavarian Night celebration. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Siskiyou Summit and is expected to draw families, outdoor enthusiasts, and longtime supporters of the mountain community for an evening of festivities and fundraising.
Bavarian Night has become a longstanding seasonal tradition for Mt. Ashland Ski Area, bringing together visitors from across Southern Oregon and Northern California for a winter-themed celebration that blends food, entertainment, and community support. Even though the current ski season has faced challenges due to lower-than-expected snowfall, organizers say the event will proceed with its full festive spirit intact.
“Mt. Ashland Ski Area is proud to continue its beloved tradition with another Bavarian Night celebration despite the low snow and pause in operations,” the ski area announced in its event release. The gathering is designed to provide an opportunity for the community to reconnect while celebrating the mountain environment that has long served as a regional destination for winter recreation.
Activities during the evening will take place around the Sid and Karen DeBoer Lodge, which will remain open to all visitors throughout the event. Guests can expect a lively atmosphere featuring Bavarian-inspired food and beverages, family-oriented entertainment, and one of the most recognizable highlights of the evening, a fireworks display set against the mountain skyline.
Food will be available from the Gemütlichkeit Grill, offering hearty fare inspired by traditional alpine gatherings, while drinks will be served at the T-Bar Lounge. Organizers say the event is intended to create a welcoming environment where visitors can relax, socialize, and take part in mountain traditions even during a winter season with limited ski activity.
Family-friendly programming will also play a central role in the evening’s schedule. Children and families attending Bavarian Night will be able to participate in activities designed to celebrate the ski culture of the region, including a modified version of the kids torchlight parade. The parade has historically been a popular moment during the event, providing younger participants with a chance to take part in a symbolic mountain tradition.
Beyond the festivities, Bavarian Night also serves an important role in supporting one of the mountain’s essential volunteer organizations. The celebration functions as the largest annual fundraiser for the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol, the team responsible for maintaining safety and emergency response on the mountain during the ski season. Organizers are encouraging the community to attend the event and contribute to the patrol’s ongoing work.
A major fundraising component of the evening is the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol Online Raffle, which is currently open to participants. The raffle features a variety of prizes connected to outdoor recreation and regional experiences. Among the featured prizes are a Mt. Ashland season pass, a scenic helicopter ride for two with Timberland Helicopters, a $500 shopping spree at Rogue Ski Shop, and a two-night stay at the Weisinger Family Winery Vineyard Cottage.
The ski area emphasized that the event provides a moment for the community to gather following a difficult winter season. “After a challenging snow season, Bavarian Night offers the perfect opportunity to come together, reconnect, and celebrate our incredible mountain community,” the announcement stated.
Admission to Bavarian Night is free, allowing residents and visitors alike to participate in the celebration without cost. Organizers say the event remains focused on community participation and support for the mountain environment that continues to bring people together year after year.
This year’s Bavarian Night celebration is also supported by several regional sponsors. Event organizers extended their appreciation to Callahan’s Mountain Lodge, Asante, and LPL Financial for helping make the evening possible.
Additional information about the event schedule and raffle opportunities is available through Mt. Ashland Ski Area’s official website. Organizers say they hope the celebration will once again demonstrate the strength of the mountain community, even during a season when snowfall has been scarce.
