One lesson I have learned over the years is that supporting local businesses should never end simply because you own one yourself. In fact, it becomes even more meaningful. Every locally owned business represents someone’s investment of time, talent, and determination, and when businesses choose to support one another, the entire community benefits. That spirit of cooperation is one of the reasons Southern Oregon continues to thrive.
After finishing up at The Meltdown, I walked across the street to Burger & Taco Company to grab dinner. I had heard positive comments about the restaurant but had not yet stopped in myself. Sometimes the best meals are found in places you’ve driven past dozens of times, and this visit proved exactly that.
I kept my order simple with a classic cheeseburger and fries. It didn’t take long to understand why the restaurant has built a loyal customer base. The burger was cooked just right, juicy and flavorful without being overly greasy, allowing the quality of the ingredients to stand on their own. Fresh toppings, a soft bun, and well-balanced flavors came together to create a satisfying meal that felt both familiar and well executed. The fries were equally impressive, arriving hot, crisp on the outside, and perfectly cooked on the inside. They weren’t simply an item on the side of the plate. They complemented the meal just as much as the burger itself.
One of the highlights of my visit came after learning that Burger & Taco Company sources its beef locally from Cherry Street Meats. That commitment to purchasing from another local business says a great deal about the restaurant and the values it embraces. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients often make a noticeable difference, and in this case, the quality of the beef certainly reflected that partnership. Just as importantly, it keeps local dollars circulating throughout the community, helping multiple small businesses succeed together.
The value was another pleasant surprise. In today’s economy, finding a quality cheeseburger and fries for just $10 is becoming increasingly rare. Considering the generous portions, fresh ingredients, and overall quality of the meal, it offered exceptional value without compromising on taste.
Southern Oregon’s growing food scene is built on entrepreneurs who take pride in what they serve. From neighborhood restaurants and family-owned cafés to independent food trucks, each business contributes something unique to the region. Every meal purchased locally helps sustain those businesses, supports local jobs, and strengthens the community that so many of us are proud to call home.
My visit to Burger & Taco Company exceeded expectations. The restaurant delivered quality food, fair prices, and an appreciation for supporting fellow local businesses that deserves recognition. If you’re looking for a well-prepared burger made with locally sourced beef and served at a price that’s difficult to beat, Burger & Taco Company is well worth adding to your list of local dining destinations.
