A startling accident disrupted the afternoon calm along Williams Highway on Monday, when a vehicle crashed into the front of Speedy Pack & Ship, a local shipping and mailing business located at 1630 Williams Hwy. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. and resulted in significant damage to the storefront, though, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to witnesses at the scene, the vehicle—a mid-sized sedan—was driven by an adult female who appeared shaken but unharmed after the crash. Emergency responders arrived quickly and assessed the situation, confirming that neither the driver nor any employees or customers inside the business sustained injuries.
Preliminary reports from the Grants Pass Police Department indicate that a mechanical issue may have played a role in the crash. The driver reportedly told authorities that the car’s accelerator became stuck, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. Investigators are still working to confirm the cause, but at this time, no charges or citations have been issued.
Damage to the business appears to be mostly limited to the front entryway and windows, though the full extent is still being evaluated. Crews were on site shortly after the crash to secure the area and begin the cleanup and repair process. Despite the disruption, Speedy Pack & Ship owners confirmed that they plan to reopen as soon as possible.
Local authorities are urging drivers to regularly inspect their vehicles for mechanical issues and to remain calm and focused in the event of sudden malfunctions. This incident serves as a reminder of how quickly accidents can happen, even in familiar areas under seemingly normal conditions.
As of Tuesday morning, the business remained temporarily closed for repairs, with updates expected later this week regarding its reopening. Police have not released the name of the driver involved.
