The City of Grants Pass, in partnership with Urban Growth Boundary Services, is hosting its annual Christmas Tree Pickup and Drop-Off Event. This convenient program runs from December 26 through January 17, giving residents ample time to responsibly dispose of their holiday trees.
Curbside Pickup Details
Residents with curbside service can place their Christmas trees, 6 feet or shorter, directly into their 95-gallon yard debris cart. To qualify for pickup, trees must meet the following criteria:
- The trunk diameter must not exceed 2 inches.
- Trees must be untreated—free of decorations, lights, and any other debris.
- If your tree exceeds 6 feet, it must be cut down to fit or scheduled for bulky item pickup by contacting the service provider.
This convenient service ensures that trees are properly composted and not sent to a landfill, encouraging sustainable holiday practices.
Drop-Off Option
For those who prefer, Christmas trees can also be dropped off at the Redwood Avenue Transfer Station. As with curbside pickup, trees must be untreated, stripped of all decorations, and have a trunk diameter of no more than 2 inches.
This free service is an excellent way to ensure post-holiday cleanup is both easy and eco-friendly.
Proper disposal of Christmas trees not only helps keep our neighborhoods tidy but also supports the city’s environmental initiatives. By composting untreated trees, the city is able to reduce waste and repurpose the organic material for landscaping and gardening projects.
For questions or to schedule a bulky item pickup, contact your local waste management provider. Take advantage of this service and start the new year with a cleaner and greener community!
