The City of Grants Pass is now accepting applications for a volunteer position on its Public Safety Advisory Committee, offering residents an opportunity to help shape the future of local safety policy. This three-year term is open to any citizen-at-large who wishes to serve as a liaison between the community and the City Council on matters of public safety.
The Public Safety Advisory Committee plays a critical role in facilitating communication and collaboration between city leadership and the people of Grants Pass. The committee provides a platform for public input and community engagement on issues ranging from law enforcement to emergency preparedness. Its primary objective is to ensure that public safety strategies developed by the city are responsive to the needs and resources of the community.
According to the city, committee members will be expected to participate in regular meetings, contribute to discussions on safety priorities, and provide guidance on current and emerging public safety concerns. This citizen-led committee serves as a bridge to help the City Council stay informed on how policies and decisions are being received and felt at the neighborhood level.
The position is open specifically to a “citizen-at-large,” meaning applicants are not required to have a background in law enforcement or public safety, but should demonstrate a commitment to community involvement and civic responsibility. The city encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds and all areas of Grants Pass to consider applying.
Those interested can obtain an application at the City Administration Office located at 101 N.W. A Street, or apply online through the city’s official website. Applications must be completed and submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025. The submitted applications will then be reviewed by the Public Safety Advisory Committee on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Final appointments will be made by the Grants Pass City Council during its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Appointees will begin their term shortly thereafter and are expected to serve through 2028.
For community members who are passionate about civic engagement, public safety, and ensuring local government reflects the values and concerns of its citizens, this opportunity provides a meaningful way to contribute. The city is hopeful that new committee members will bring fresh perspectives and a strong commitment to helping Grants Pass remain a safe and vibrant place to live.
