Dear Editor and Voters of Grants Pass,
I’ll start with my announcement that I am running for Grants Pass City Council for Ward 2. Please visit VoteErinCook.com to learn more about me.
We are all a little more aware of politics in the current world than many of us have ever been before, and Grants Pass is at a crossroads. We’ve watched as multiple local elected officials have been recalled for unethical and dishonest business practices. We’ve seen mistakes made that have led to lawsuits and discontent and have left our community worse off. Many of these decisions were made in frustration but should have been guided by compassion, data, and best practices.
We moved to Grants Pass about a year and a half ago, and we fell in love with the community immediately. The beautiful downtown, the incredible outdoor activities and spaces, and the people have captured my heart. The focus of our move to Grants Pass was always to help a community in need. My husband’s focus was to provide quality medical care to the Grants Pass community, and as a former teacher, my focus was on helping those struggling to meet their basic needs so they could have opportunities to thrive rather than simply survive.
During this time, I’ve seen some of our greatest strengths and some of our toughest challenges. We need fresh leadership focused on compassion rather than frustration when addressing homelessness, while also working to address affordable housing, attract jobs and tourism, and build a future we can be proud of. My campaign is built on honesty, transparency, compassion, and creating a better future for generations to come.
We can build a stronger future for Grants Pass if we work together. I truly believe that the majority of us, regardless of party affiliation, are concerned about the same things. We want security for our families, public safety, quality schools, affordability, and a strong community. I ask for your support and your vote. Voters can contact me through my website or social media. I look forward to meeting neighbors across our community in the coming weeks and hearing your ideas and concerns.
Let’s build a better Grants Pass where everyone is treated with dignity and where we can all thrive.
Be the Change,
Erin Cook
Grants Pass City Council Candidate
