Grants Pass residents will have the chance to experience the changing colors of autumn in a unique and educational way this weekend. The City of Grants Pass Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Fall Tree Walk at Reinhart Volunteer Park on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Bank of America Shelter and is open to the public at no cost.
The walk will be led by Chris Delk, the city’s Urban Forester, who will guide participants through the park’s diverse tree population. The purpose of the walk is to give residents a closer look at the city’s urban forest and to share insights about the different tree species that thrive in Southern Oregon. As autumn reaches its peak, the park’s canopy offers a colorful backdrop for learning and exploration.
Reinhart Volunteer Park, located at 1690 SW Webster Road in Grants Pass, is known for its mix of open spaces, riverside trails, and shaded groves. The Fall Tree Walk will cover at least one mile of both paved and unpaved terrain, making it accessible to most participants while still offering an authentic outdoor experience. Organizers recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and being prepared for varying surfaces along the route.
This event is part of an ongoing effort by the city to engage the community with its natural resources and to raise awareness about urban forestry. As Grants Pass continues to grow, maintaining a healthy and vibrant urban forest plays a key role in improving air quality, providing shade, supporting wildlife habitats, and enhancing the overall beauty of public spaces. Educational events like this tree walk help residents better understand their environment and foster a sense of stewardship for local green spaces.
For those who may not have visited Reinhart Volunteer Park recently, the Fall Tree Walk also offers a chance to rediscover one of the community’s most popular recreational areas. Whether participants are seasoned gardeners, students, families, or casual nature enthusiasts, the tour promises an enjoyable and informative way to spend a fall morning in Grants Pass.
The Parks & Recreation Department encourages anyone interested to arrive a few minutes early to gather at the Bank of America Shelter. No advance registration is required.
