Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis filed a motion on Thursday, alleging interference in legal proceedings by the wife of a special prosecutor involved in former President Donald Trump’s election subversion case. The motion claims that Joycelyn Wade, the wife of special prosecutor Nathan Wade, has conspired with interested parties to annoy, embarrass, and oppress Willis. This accusation follows a co-defendant’s claim that Willis had an improper relationship with Nathan Wade.
In the motion, Willis accuses Joycelyn Wade of obstructing and interfering with the ongoing criminal prosecution of Trump and 18 co-defendants. The case involves allegations of attempting to overturn the results of Trump’s 2020 presidential election loss. The legal action within the Wades’ divorce proceedings coincides with accusations against Willis, asserting violations of conflict of interest laws and mishandling public funds due to an alleged inappropriate relationship with Nathan Wade. Willis was recently called to testify in the divorce proceedings.
Contrary to the accusations, Willis argues that she should not be compelled to testify in the divorce case. She contends that the Wades’ marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation, and any information she could provide would not be relevant to the divorce proceedings. The district attorney asserts that the subpoena to testify is an attempt to harass and damage her professional reputation.
