Today’s food adventure took me to Phoenix, where I teamed up with the crew at Got Balls Meatball Truck for another one of my favorite community events, a food truck takeover.
These takeovers have quickly become one of the most enjoyable parts of what I do. The concept is simple: I work with a local restaurant or food truck to create a special menu item, spend time in the kitchen cooking alongside the staff, and have the opportunity to meet the people who come out to support local businesses.
For this event, I created Joey’s Hot Honey Shrimp Alfredo, a special dish that combined creamy Alfredo sauce with the sweet flavor of Joey’s Hot Honey and just enough heat to keep things interesting. It was great to see customers try the dish and hear their feedback throughout the day.
Beyond the food, these events are about bringing people together and highlighting locally owned businesses that work hard every day to serve our communities.
The next takeover is scheduled for June 23 at The Wonder Bur, where I’ll be teaming up with my good friend Robert Brown to create a Western Bacon Smash Burger featuring his signature barbecue sauce.
The series continues on July 17 at Super Smash Burger, where I’ll join the team to serve up a Hawaiian Fire Smash Burger featuring Joey’s Hot Honey.
Events like these are a reminder of what supporting local businesses is all about—neighbors helping neighbors, businesses supporting one another, and communities coming together over great food. Every meal purchased and every share on social media help keep these small businesses thriving, and that’s something worth celebrating.
