Dear Readers,
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday — and before you head off to find eggs, gather with family, or maybe just sneak an extra marshmallow Peep or two (no judgment here), I wanted to take a quick moment to reach out on behalf of all of us here at the Grants Pass Tribune.
This isn’t your typical editorial. I’m not here to dig into politics, break down the latest controversy, or tell you what’s wrong with the world. Nope — not today. Today is for something better. Today is for celebrating all that’s right.
Easter has a special kind of energy. It’s joyful, it’s full of color, and it seems to arrive right when we all need a little reminder that life renews itself — in nature, in spirit, and in each other. Whether Easter for you is a deeply spiritual day, a chance to reflect and connect with your faith, or simply a time to slow down and spend quality moments with the people you love, it carries a certain kind of light that feels different. It’s not just about baskets and bunnies (although, let’s be honest, those are pretty great too) — it’s about hope. And who couldn’t use a little more of that?
Here in Southern Oregon, we are blessed in so many ways. We’ve got mountains, rivers, fresh air, and a tight-knit community that looks out for one another. You are the heart of this region, and that’s not just something we say — we see it every day in the stories we tell, the letters you send us, and the way this community shows up when it matters most.
So tomorrow, we encourage you to get outside and soak up that springtime sunshine. Chase some kids through the grass. Laugh with your family. Call that friend you’ve been meaning to check in on. Eat too much ham. Have the second slice of pie. Let the dishes wait. And most of all — don’t spend too much time reading the news. Yes, I said that. From the editor. Of a newspaper.
Seriously — we’ll still be here on Monday. But Easter only comes once a year, and if ever there was a day to unplug from the chaos and lean into what matters, this is it. Whether your traditions include sunrise services, neighborhood brunches, or just a walk down by the river, don’t forget to really be present. Life moves fast. These little moments are the ones that matter.
And from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for reading the Tribune, for sending in tips and feedback, for trusting us to tell your stories, and for helping us grow into a voice that represents Josephine County with pride, passion, and a little personality too. We wouldn’t be here without you — and we never forget that.
So, from our family here at the Grants Pass Tribune to yours, we wish you a joyful, peaceful, love-filled Easter. May your baskets overflow (literally and metaphorically), may your spirit feel lifted, and may your Sunday be as sunny as your outlook.
Happy Easter, Josephine County. You make this place feel like home.
