After receiving numerous messages and comments encouraging me to visit Gimmees Grill in Cave Junction, I finally made the trip to see what all the buzz was about.
For lunch, I ordered the CJ Smash Burger, and it didn’t take long to understand why so many people had recommended the restaurant.
What stood out most about this burger was its simplicity. There were no over-the-top toppings or complicated flavor combinations—just a well-executed smash burger made with quality ingredients and attention to detail.
The beef patty was smashed thin, creating perfectly crispy edges while remaining juicy and flavorful. It was seasoned just right, allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine through. Fresh vegetables added a satisfying crunch, while the brioche bun complemented the burger without overpowering it. Every ingredient worked together to create a meal that was both flavorful and satisfying.
One thing I’ve learned while traveling throughout Southern Oregon is that some of the region’s best food can often be found in places people might otherwise overlook. Cave Junction and the Illinois Valley continue to prove that point. The area is home to several hidden culinary gems, and Gimmees Grill has certainly earned a place among them.
Whether you’re already in the Illinois Valley or simply looking for an excuse to take a scenic drive, Gimmees Grill is worth adding to your list of places to visit.
As always, support local.
