GRANTS PASS, OR — The City of Grants Pass is inviting residents to engage in the local government’s annual budgeting process with the first public meeting of the Budget Committee scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and take place in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 101 N.W. “A” Street in downtown Grants Pass.
The purpose of this meeting is twofold: to formally present the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year—spanning from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026—and to hear comments and concerns from the public. During this meeting, the city’s budget officer will deliver the official budget message, outlining key financial priorities, proposed expenditures, and revenue projections for the year ahead. This initial presentation will serve as the foundation for the committee’s deliberations, which are set to begin immediately after the message is received.
City officials emphasize that this is not just a procedural gathering, but an important opportunity for civic involvement. Residents are encouraged to attend in person and take part in shaping how public resources will be allocated. Any member of the public is welcome to speak during the meeting and share their thoughts on proposed programs, funding priorities, or other budgetary concerns. All comments made will be entered into the public record.
Those unable to attend in person can still follow the proceedings through a live broadcast, available both on cable television and online. Instructions for how to access the live stream or video archive of the meeting can be found on the city’s website at:

In advance of the meeting, the public will also have access to the full recommended budget document for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The document is scheduled to be published on the city’s website by May 9 and can be found at:

The Budget Committee is composed of members of the Grants Pass City Council and appointed citizen volunteers. This group is tasked with reviewing the proposed operating and capital budgets, making recommendations, and ultimately approving the city’s financial plan before it goes to the full council for adoption. During the May 13 meeting, the committee will also set a timeline for future budget discussions, which typically occur in a series of sessions throughout the spring. These follow-up meetings will allow for continued review of individual departments, line items, and funding allocations.
Public input will be welcomed at each scheduled session of the Budget Committee, not just the first. Meeting agendas and official notices will be made available through the city’s online Agenda Center at:

The City of Grants Pass is encouraging residents to stay informed and engaged as the city plans for the fiscal year ahead. From infrastructure and emergency services to parks, recreation, and economic development, the budget process is where policy decisions meet practical implementation. Officials stress that community voices play a vital role in ensuring that public funds reflect local needs and values.
For those unfamiliar with the budget process, attending these meetings offers a valuable look into how municipal government functions. It also provides a platform to advocate for specific services, raise concerns, or gain clarity about how tax dollars are spent.
As Grants Pass continues to grow and face complex challenges—from rising costs to long-term capital investments—participation in public budget meetings remains one of the most direct ways for residents to influence the future of their city.
The notice of the meeting was officially posted on May 2, 2025.
