The Grants Pass Police Department is currently seeking an experienced 911 Manager to oversee the city’s Communications Center, a critical operation responsible for providing 911 call-taking services for Josephine County. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a team dedicated to responding swiftly and efficiently to emergencies.
The Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, ensuring that both emergency and non-emergency calls are handled promptly and effectively. The center’s services include the use of an enhanced 911 telephone system, non-emergent phone lines, and radio communications to coordinate responses across the county.
Key Responsibilities
As the 911 Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties aimed at ensuring the center runs smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include:
- Staff development, including creating work plans, providing coaching, and offering training to team members.
- Developing, reviewing, and updating operational policies and procedures to maintain best practices.
- Overseeing and managing the division budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Preparing administrative reports and evaluating employee performance.
- Interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees to strengthen the team.
Qualifications
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, along with six years of relevant experience. This must include at least three years of supervisory experience, though an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Licensing and Certification Requirements
In addition to the educational and professional qualifications, the selected candidate must meet the following licensing requirements:
- A valid Class C Driver’s License.
- A Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Telecommunicator Certificate at the time of appointment.
- An Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate, to be obtained within 60 days of appointment.
- A Law Enforcement Data System Certificate, to be obtained within 60 days of appointment.
- A Supervisory Certificate, to be obtained within one year of appointment.
