The Rotary Club of Grants Pass is gearing up to host its highly anticipated Annual Rotary Invitational Track Meet on April 27th, 2024, at Grants Pass High School. This longstanding event serves as a crucial lead-up to both district and state championship meets.
Collaborating closely with the Grants Pass High School Athletic Department, the Rotary Club has been organizing this event for 74 years, making it a cherished tradition within the community. The all-day meet will take place at the school’s track, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. and competitions kicking off at 10:00 a.m.
The festivities will commence with a patriotic touch, featuring a presentation of colors and the National Anthem at 9:20 a.m., followed by a thrilling Military Flyover provided by the 173rd Fighter Wing from Kingsly Field.
Anticipation is high for this year’s event, as approximately 700 athletes from a diverse range of schools, spanning across Oregon and Northern California, are expected to participate. What sets this meet apart is its exclusive “Invitational” status, attracting only the top 16 athletes or entries in each event. This selective process fosters a fiercely competitive environment, often yielding some of the most remarkable performances witnessed in the state of Oregon.
Heading the organization of the 2024 event are Rotarians Tim Quinlan and Rob Brandes. For those seeking more information, the club’s website at www.grantspassrotary.org is a valuable resource.
