The City of Grants Pass is inviting applications for three open positions on the Tourism Advisory Committee, with each position carrying a three-year term. The committee plays a key role in enhancing the city’s tourism efforts and helping to shape the local economy through effective marketing, promotion, and destination management.
The goal of the Tourism Advisory Committee is to encourage both residents and visitors to actively engage in community activities while fostering a positive image of Grants Pass. By advising the City’s Tourism Contractor, the committee works to ensure that tourism initiatives are aligned with the community’s best interests, particularly in promoting the city’s attractions, events, and local businesses.
Committee members are tasked with reviewing the work of the Tourism Contractor, providing feedback, and submitting findings and recommendations to the City Council. This advisory role is integral in helping to shape the city’s tourism strategy and ensuring that marketing efforts effectively attract visitors and support local businesses.
Applicants for the committee are sought from a variety of sectors related to tourism, including river guides, area attractions, realtors, restaurants, media, marketing professionals, and citizens-at-large. The city is looking for a diverse group of individuals who can bring unique perspectives and expertise to the table, ensuring that the tourism initiatives reflect the broad interests of the community.
Applications for the Tourism Advisory Committee are available at the City Administration Office, located at 101 N.W. A Street, or online via the city’s website. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025. After the application deadline, the committee will review the submissions on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and final appointments will be made by the City Council during their meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for residents and professionals in the tourism industry to help shape the future of Grants Pass as a destination city. Those interested in making a positive impact on the community and its tourism efforts are encouraged to apply.
