The University of Wyoming has released its Spring 2025 semester academic honor rolls, and among the students recognized for outstanding academic achievement is Gavin Cougle of Grants Pass.
Cougle earned a place on the prestigious Dean’s Honor Roll, which highlights regularly enrolled undergraduate students who have maintained a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.4 or higher while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours for letter grades. The Dean’s Honor Roll is one of the university’s top academic distinctions, reflecting consistent excellence in coursework across a full semester.
Cougle was among five students from Oregon honored by the university this spring, including Sophia Duyck of Forest Grove, Jack Monkman of Pendleton, and Kaylee Price and Jade Tillett, both of Portland. Their recognition places them among the top-performing students in the university’s undergraduate programs.
Located in Laramie, the University of Wyoming serves more than 10,000 students from across the United States and over 70 countries. Founded in 1886, UW is recognized nationally for its research programs, distinguished faculty, and strong student-centered approach to education. With more than 200 areas of study available, the university provides students with a wide array of academic and research opportunities.
The university’s commitment to student success is reflected in its low student-to-faculty ratio, which fosters more personalized instruction and mentorship. Undergraduate students, such as Cougle, often benefit from early involvement in advanced research projects—something that sets UW apart from many larger institutions.
For Grants Pass residents, Cougle’s academic success brings local pride and serves as an example of the potential for students in Southern Oregon to excel at major national universities. Honor roll recognition not only highlights academic discipline and determination but can also open doors to future opportunities such as scholarships, internships, and graduate school admissions.
The University of Wyoming publishes two academic honor rolls each semester. The Dean’s Honor Roll includes students beyond their freshman year, while the Dean’s Freshman Honor Roll recognizes first-year students who earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher under the same 12-credit requirement. All courses must be taken for a letter grade to qualify.
As the higher education landscape continues to evolve, honors such as these remain a consistent benchmark for academic excellence. Cougle’s recognition underscores the dedication and hard work required to maintain such high standards and represents a commendable academic achievement for both himself and the Grants Pass community.
