The Josephine County Budget Committee is set to hold its first meeting for the upcoming fiscal year on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Anne Basker Auditorium in Grants Pass. The meeting marks the beginning of the county’s formal budgeting process for the fiscal year running from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
All Josephine County Budget Committee meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to either attend in person or view the proceedings online. A livestream will be available at www.josephinecounty.gov/livestream, providing expanded access for those unable to attend the meetings at the auditorium.
At the first session, the Budget Committee will review the initial proposed budget, set the schedule for any additional meetings, and begin discussions on county financial priorities for the upcoming year. Proposed future meeting dates have already been suggested for May 13 and May 20 at 9:00 a.m., also in the Anne Basker Auditorium. However, the county advises residents to confirm dates, times, and locations by checking the official website as schedules are subject to change.
Community input will be accepted throughout the budget process. Residents may submit public comments either in writing or via email to bcc@josephinecounty.gov. Written comments must be received by 4:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled meeting to be entered into the official record. Submissions must include the author’s name, residence location, and clearly indicate “Public Comment” in the email’s subject line.
Written comments will be provided to the Budget Committee members for their consideration but may not necessarily be read aloud during the meeting. Individuals who prefer to submit comments by mail can deliver them to the Board of County Commissioners’ Office at 500 NW Sixth Street, Grants Pass, Oregon.
The county emphasizes that public comments will be subject to the rules established by the Budget Committee and relevant state laws governing public meetings and input.
Following the initial presentation of the proposed budget on May 2, a full copy of the budget document will be made available for public review. Interested individuals can schedule appointments to view the document at the Board of County Commissioners’ Office by calling (541) 474-5221.
The budget document will also be accessible online through the county’s website under the Finance Department’s “Budget Information” section. Physical copies will be available at both branches of the Josephine Community Library District — one located in Grants Pass and the other in Cave Junction.
The budget process is a critical function of local government, establishing funding priorities for county services, infrastructure projects, public safety, health programs, and other community needs. By attending meetings or watching the livestream, residents have an opportunity to stay informed about how public funds are allocated and to participate in a process that influences daily life in Josephine County.
More information regarding meeting schedules, livestream access, and budget documents can be found on the Josephine County government website at www.josephinecounty.gov.
