Lunch led me to Wakasa Sushi at Ethos Academy this week, in Phoenix Oregon, and the experience proved to be one of the most enjoyable sushi stops I’ve had in quite some time.
My choice for the afternoon was the Fumi Roll, a combination of snow crab, cucumber, avocado, fresh tuna, green onion and red onion, all finished with the restaurant’s signature house teriyaki sauce. Each ingredient complemented the next, creating a roll that was balanced, fresh and packed with flavor without any one component overpowering the others.
Having enjoyed sushi at restaurants across the country over the years, I can confidently say this ranked among the freshest I’ve tasted. The quality of the seafood was immediately noticeable, the vegetables were crisp, and every bite reflected the attention and care that went into its preparation. Nothing tasted rushed or overcomplicated. Instead, the ingredients were allowed to speak for themselves, resulting in a roll that was clean, satisfying and memorable from beginning to end.
What made this visit even more exciting is that Wakasa Sushi will soon become one of our neighbors when The Meltdown opens its doors at Ethos Academy. It’s always encouraging to see locally owned businesses growing together under one roof, creating a destination where visitors can enjoy a variety of quality dining experiences in one convenient location.
If you’re a sushi enthusiast or simply looking to try something new, Wakasa Sushi is well worth adding to your list. Based on my experience, the Fumi Roll is an outstanding introduction to what the restaurant has to offer and one I would gladly order again.
Until the next lunch adventure, happy eating.
