A unique and vibrant community event is coming to Grants Pass this spring, as the “Medicine Show Revival” makes its debut at Riverside Park. Taking place from April 19 to April 26, this seven-day festival blends education, entertainment, and grassroots resilience in what organizers are calling a “community forward circus.” With a full schedule of workshops and performances, the event aims to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds for a week of shared learning, creativity, and fun.
The main public gathering will be held on Sunday, April 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is designed as a full-day festival filled with engaging activities, live performances, and opportunities to connect with others. The day will begin with educational and wellness-focused workshops aimed at promoting community resilience. Topics and activities will range from arts and crafts to health and well-being, offering inspiration stations, a clothing swap, and a trading and barter zone to encourage sustainable practices and community resource sharing.
A key feature of the day’s events is an Easter Egg Hunt for children of all ages, which begins at 12:00 p.m. and promises to be a family-friendly highlight. Later in the day, attendees can enjoy a community picnic at 5:00 p.m., giving friends, families, and neighbors a chance to gather and share a meal together in the park.
As the sun sets, the focus shifts to the festival’s entertainment lineup, which kicks off on the mobile stage at 6:00 p.m. Evening performances will include a variety of acts such as live music, MedTalks, comedy, vaudeville, and a variety show. This fusion of performance arts is intended to reflect the revival’s roots in old-fashioned traveling medicine shows, which historically combined health education with theatrical entertainment.
The Medicine Show Revival is supported by several local organizations and sponsors, including Jimmy’s Classic Drive-In, Elated Family Acupuncture, The Hive, True Juice Organic Juice Bar & Café, and PHiREworks. The event is being coordinated by community organizer Eleyah Knight, who can be contacted for further information or volunteer opportunities.
In keeping with its community-oriented mission, the festival also features a website for more details: MedicineShowRevival.wixsite.com/epic, where attendees can find the full schedule of events and learn more about the guiding principles behind the revival.
With its emphasis on grassroots participation, local talent, and building stronger community connections, the Medicine Show Revival offers something for everyone. Whether you’re interested in hands-on workshops, lively performances, or simply enjoying a day outdoors with family and neighbors, this event aims to provide a space for celebration, creativity, and resilience in the heart of Grants Pass.
