(Mt. Ashland, OR) — The Mt. Ashland Ski Area is set to welcome visitors for its summer season starting this Friday, June 14. The mountain lodge will open its restaurant and retail shop to the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Labor Day. The restaurant will feature hot entrees, ice cream, and adult beverages. Throughout the summer, Mt. Ashland will host a variety of events, including movie nights, tie-dye events, a disc golf tournament, and activities for all ages.
“Mt. Ashland is a hub of summer recreation in southern Oregon, with access to many great trails and epic views of the Rogue and Shasta Valleys,” said Andrew Gast, Mt. Ashland’s General Manager. “Our goal is to be a base camp for mountain visitors. Our mountain is a special place in the summertime, and we hope that those who have never visited will take a few hours to explore the unique alpine landscape or enjoy one of our activities and a meal or drinks.”
In addition to opening its facilities, Mt. Ashland is launching an Alpine Adventure program for kids. Children ages 8-13 can enroll in camps and mini-camps that include hiking, nature exploration, arts and crafts, and mountain sports. Youth groups are also invited to take field trips for mountain programs during the week.
“These youth summer programs are a testament to our nonprofit mission,” reiterated Gast. “At our core, we are dedicated to introducing people of all ages to the joys of mountain recreation. Mt. Ashland offers an unparalleled setting to enjoy the mountains. It’s a place where you can bask in the cool breeze, soak in the beautiful views, and feel inspired by the power and beauty of nature.”
The summer season for Mt. Ashland follows a highly successful ski season, which saw over 95,000 visitors for skiing and snowboarding. The ski area also recorded its most successful spring season pass sale in history, surpassing the previous record by 10.5%.
Mt. Ashland Ski Area is owned and operated by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Mt. Ashland Association under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Its mission is to provide and promote healthy alpine recreation.
