The City of Grants Pass has introduced a new addition to its parks, enhancing both fun and accessibility for the community. The latest attraction is the “Movmnt” game by Burke, now available in Eckstein Park. This innovative piece of play equipment caters to children and adults alike, with a special focus on inclusivity for individuals who use mobility devices.
What sets the “Movmnt” game apart is its unique design and operation. The game is powered by a hand crank, which generates a charge to light up a series of flashing pads. Players are then challenged to quickly tap the illuminated pads, testing their reflexes and coordination. The game can be played solo or by two people, making it a versatile and engaging activity for a wide range of park visitors.
Eckstein Park was chosen as the location for this installation due to space limitations that made a traditional play structure impractical. Situated along the walking path near the outfield of the baseball field, the “Movmnt” game offers a new form of recreation that fits seamlessly into the park’s layout.
The project was made possible through a combination of funding sources, with the game itself costing around $18,000. An additional $4,000 was spent on the installation of the concrete pad and curbing, ensuring a stable and accessible foundation for the equipment.
This new addition underscores the city’s commitment to providing inclusive recreational opportunities for all residents. The “Movmnt” game is expected to be a popular feature in Eckstein Park, encouraging physical activity and social interaction in a fun, accessible way.
As more parks consider updates and new installations, the “Movmnt” game in Eckstein Park serves as an example of how thoughtful design and planning can make outdoor spaces more inclusive and enjoyable for the entire community.
