In recent interviews Presidential candidate RFK Jr. has taken a proactive stance against both Norfolk Southern and the federal government in the wake of a train derailment that caused significant damage to East Palestine a year ago, leaving the community in distress.
Representing a thousand affected families, RFK Jr. has initiated legal action against the railway company, highlighting concerns and advocating for the impacted residents. In addition to filing a lawsuit, he has voiced criticisms regarding President Joe Biden’s response to the incident. RFK Jr. expressed frustration with what he perceives as insufficient attention from the Biden administration, noting that despite promises to visit the site, the President has not fulfilled that commitment.
A recent whistleblower report has revealed that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) kept elevated levels of dioxins in East Palestine a secret. This revelation adds another layer to the ongoing concerns surrounding the environmental impact of the train derailment.
RFK Jr. emphasized his commitment to the affected community by stating, “I would have been in East Palestine the next day. I would have certainly gone to East Palestine before I went to Ukraine.” He expressed disappointment that President Biden has reportedly spent more time on vacation and with President Zelenskyy than with the people of East Palestine.
The situation remains a focal point as efforts to address the aftermath of the train derailment continue, with RFK Jr. at the forefront advocating for the affected families and criticizing perceived inadequacies in the government’s response.
