The Reaching Our Community (ROC) Food Pantry, Josephine County’s largest food distribution center, has announced a significant leadership change as it welcomes Shonna Bouteller as its new Executive Director.
Serving over 7,000 individuals per month, the ROC Food Pantry plays a critical role in combating food insecurity throughout the region. As a key distribution hub for the Josephine County Food Bank, ROC provides emergency food boxes to low-income households twice a week—Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
The pantry has been under the direction of Brian Bouteller for the past five years. During his tenure, Brian, who also serves as Executive Director of the Gospel Rescue Mission, steered the ROC through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of his most notable contributions was the implementation of a drive-through food distribution system, ensuring that patrons could continue to receive essential support while maintaining safe social distancing protocols. The ROC’s Board of Directors extended its deepest appreciation for his leadership and dedication during such a challenging time.
Now, the organization is poised to enter a new chapter with Shonna Bouteller at the helm. A Grants Pass native and former private school teacher, Shonna brings a strong educational background and a deep-rooted passion for public service. She holds a Master’s degree in Family Advocacy and Public Policy from Liberty University, equipping her with the tools to address not just hunger, but the broader social issues that often accompany it.
In her new role, Shonna plans to expand ROC’s services beyond food distribution by introducing case management programs aimed at helping clients achieve lasting food security. These services will provide personalized support to those struggling with unemployment, housing instability, medical expenses, and other life challenges that affect access to basic needs.
“Our clients rely on us not just for food, but for hope,” Shonna said. “We want to do more than put food on the table—we want to help individuals and families find stability and thrive. I’m honored to lead a team that is so committed to serving their neighbors with compassion and dignity.”
With demand for food assistance continuing to rise, Shonna is calling on the community for help. The ROC Food Pantry is seeking financial contributions, non-perishable food donations, and, most urgently, volunteers to help meet growing needs.
“We are deeply grateful to those who have supported us in the past and encourage anyone interested in making a difference to get involved,” Shonna added.
For more information on how to donate, volunteer, or access services, community members are encouraged to visit the ROC Food Pantry’s website at www.rochome.org.
Under new leadership, the ROC Food Pantry is not only continuing its mission to feed the hungry, but also striving to build a stronger, more supportive community for all.
