Motorists in Grants Pass are being advised to plan alternate routes on Saturday, October 12, as several streets will be closed throughout the day to make way for the Pride of the Northwest Marching Band Competition, which will take place at Grants Pass High School. The closures will last from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., significantly affecting traffic in the area.
Key streets impacted by the closures include:
- 9th Street: Closed to through traffic from Wharton Drive to Madrone Street, with eastbound traffic redirected via Wharton and Madrone.
- A Street (westbound lane): Closed between 9th Street and Dean Drive, with traffic diverted south onto Baker Drive.
- Dean Drive: Closed from A Street to Olive Street.
- Olive Street: Closed from Dean Drive to 8th Street.
- Flint Street: Closed to through traffic at A Street.
The closures are being implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the band competition, which draws participants and spectators from throughout the region. Given the expected congestion, motorists are urged to avoid the area entirely if possible and to seek alternate routes to minimize delays.
Officials have also noted that emergency vehicles will not be allowed through the closed areas, so residents and travelers should take extra care when planning their journeys.
