The Safer Josephine County Foundation is a local nonprofit created to help fill the funding gap for local public safety agencies in Josephine County.
For many years the public has been feeling the effects caused by lack of funding or underfunding of our local public safety agencies. Jonathan Knapp, Public Safety Advocate, Founder and Executive Director of the Safer Josephine County Foundation set out to improve the situation and started the foundation with the goal of raising non tax dollar funds to relieve the pressure on Josephine County residents.
The Safer Josephine County Foundation is a local 501.c.3 dedicated to recognizing the local Public Safety Heroes in Josephine County. We do this by raising funds from community support. The funds collected will be used in two ways. First, we want to recognize and award local public safety individuals who performed a heroic act in the previous year and secondly, we are raising funds for training, equipment and other essential items for our Police, Sheriff, Fire and Security Personnel so that the citizens of Josephine County receive the best possible response in their time of need.
Our inaugural Heroes Awards Dinner & Auction is scheduled for Saturday April 20th beginning at 5pm at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. Tickets are available for this event on our website at www.saferjoco.com Tickets start at $60.00 for our pre-event sales and will be $65.00 at the door. Business or individuals can also purchase a table of 8 in advance for a discounted price or $440.00
We are thrilled to have our first major sponsor, First Community Credit Union and are looking to add more event sponsors to this growing list.
Donations have been received from many local business and individuals and we are accepting more, donations can be made by going to the website or calling our volunteer office at 541-226-2090 and we will make arrangements to pick up your donation.
This is a grass routs volunteer organization and those interested in volunteering to help prepare or work at the event can also reach out to us at our email address of saferjoco@gmail.com or call the office.
“For many years the public has been looking for ways to raise funds and support our public safety personnel, finally we have an avenue to do just that without placing a financial burden on those who may not otherwise be able to afford it. I encourage those who want to support our public safety agencies to donate items and plan to attend this event. Together we can continue to make and keep Josephine County a safe place to live and raise our families.”
